<p>Chlorine gas was used earlier for bleaching paper. Now a days, hydrogen peroxide (H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub>) with suitable catalyst are used. Earlier solvents like tetrachloroethylene were used in dry cleaning of clothes but they pollute the ground water and are carcinogenic.</p>
