The difference of speed of light in the two media A and B (vA $-$ vB) is 2.6 $\times$ 107 m/s. If the refractive index of medium B is 1.47, then the ratio of refractive index of medium B to medium A is : (Given : speed of light in vacuum c = 3 $\times$ 108 ms$-$1)
Solution
<p>Speed of light in a medium $= {c \over n}$</p>
<p>$\Rightarrow$ According to given information,</p>
<p>${c \over {{n_A}}} - {c \over {{n_B}}} = 2.6 \times {10^7}$</p>
<p>$$ \Rightarrow {{{n_B}} \over {{n_A}}} - 1 = {{2.6 \times {{10}^7}} \over {3 \times {{10}^8}}} \times {n_B}$$</p>
<p>$\Rightarrow {{{n_B}} \over {{n_A}}} \simeq 1.13$</p>
