Easy MCQ +4 / -1

In (2x + 3)⁹, the coefficient of x⁶ is:

  1. A C(9,6) × 2⁶ × 3³ Correct answer
  2. B C(9,3) × 2³ × 3⁶
  3. C C(9,6) × 2⁶ × 3⁶
  4. D C(9,6) × 2³ × 3³

Solution

General term: C(9,r) (2x)^(9-r) (3)^r. For x⁶: 9-r=6 → r=3. Coeff = C(9,3) × 2⁶ × 3³. C(9,3)=84, C(9,6)=84 (symmetric). So C(9,6) × 2⁶ × 3³ works too.
